Kofax, the global leader in the Electronic Data and Document Capture (EDC) market, has integrated its award-winning Ascent Capture 5.0 software with Microsoft's SharePoint Portal Server.

Ascent Capture 5.0 is an information capture product that allows users to seamlessly interface with SharePoint Portal Server, the flexible portal solution from Microsoft. SharePoint Portal Server allows companies to easily find, share and publish information.

The new server is designed to integrate seamlessly with the Microsoft Office and Windows productivity desktop environment, allowing enterprise customers to integrate robust document management, search, subscriptions and inline discussions into their document collaboration process.

Ascent Capture is the leading information capture solution with more than 20,000 licenses sold to date. It economically and reliably captures large volumes of critical business information from paper as well as electronic documents such as e-mail, Microsoft Office files, photos, and Web forms and makes it immediately available for workflow, transaction processing and customer relations.

Ascent manages the process, indexes and validates the captured content then releases it seamlessly through a library of integration modules developed for all major document and content management systems. The SharePoint Portal Server module is the latest addition to this library.
