DIVISION I

The best collegiate players in the nation were honored at the Kodak All-American Press Conference during the 2001 WBCA National Convention in St. Louis.

Southwest Missouri State's Jackie Stiles, LSU's Marie Ferdinand, Duke's Georgia Schweitzer, and Georgia's Kelly Miller. Purdue's Katie Douglas, Mississippi State's LaToya Thomas, Notre Dame's Ruth Riley, former four-time Kodak All-American and emcee of the event, Ann Meyers Drysdale, Tennessee's Tamika Catchings, Oklahoma's Stacy Dales, and Connecticut's Svetlana Abrosimova.

WBCA Leadership

The Women's Basketball Coaches Association is governed by the WBCA Executive Committee and the WBCA Board of Directors. The Executive Committee meets three times per year (March, May, August) and via conference call each month of the school year. The Board of Directors meets twice per year (March, August) and via conference call in March and December. Each voting Board member is elected by the WBCA's active membership for a three-year term, except for the President, who has a two-year commitment. The President appoints non-voting positions and any positions vacated before their expiration date.

Russell Athletics Coaches of the Year, 2001

Presented annually to one coach in each of the five collegiate divisions: Division I, Division II, Division III, NAIA and JC/CC - as well as High School.

Sears/WBCA Trophy

Considered the most sought-after award in women's college basketball, the Sears/WBCA Women's Collegiate Basketball Trophy is hand-crafted by Waterford Crystal in Ireland. The trophy takes more than three months to Create and is insured for $30,000. This sparkling trophy and a $10,000 scholarship is awarded to the winner of the final USA TODAY/ESPN/WBCA Top 25 Poll, and is presented at the concluding function of the WBCA National Convention.

Sears and the WBCA also present a $2,500 scholarship to each of the national champions in NCAA Division II and III and NAIA Divisions I and II. All conference champions of the four-year school divisions, plus the national champions are honored at the Sears Salute to Champions Luncheon.

Sears Collegiate Champions Program

The Sears/WBCA Trophy is part of the Sears Collegiate Champions (SCC SCC - strongly connected component ) program - a comprehensive trophy and academic scholarship program which recognizes both women's and men's sports equally. Sears, Roebuck and Co., and the WBCA also present $20,000 in academic scholarships each year in connection with this trophy. In total, the SCC program awards more than 2,200 trophies and more than a quarter of a million dollars in academic scholarships each year to NCAA Division I, II, III and NAIA institutions.

The Jostens-Berenson Service Award recognizes an individual who has maintained a professional lifelong commitment to service for and to the game of women's basketball.

The USA Basketball National Team will bring their A-Game and take on the top senior collegiate players in the country.

The WBCA is once again bringing in the top 17 senior NCAA Division I players, voted on by Division I hhead coaches, and the NCAA Division II and III and NAIA Players of the Year, to go head to head in an action packed game of women's basketball. The world's top players will also battle it out in a 3-point shooting contest which is sure to keep you energized.

Join Olympians Sheryl Swoopes, Dawn Staley, Lisa Leslie, Chamique Holdsclaw, Natalie Williams and DeLisha Milton as this Van Chancellor coached team takes on the top senior collegiate players in the nation. Last year's game at Washington University, in St. Louis, was a sellout... so don't hesitate...
