ANAHEIM, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 12, 1998--Kodak Business Imaging Systems today announced a major technology agreement with a leading imaging software company and introduced innovative new document management products and services at the 1998 Association of Information and Image Management (AIIM (Association for Information and Image Management International, Silver Spring, MD, www.aiim.org) A membership organization founded in 1943 devoted to creating industry standards and disseminating information about the document management industry. ) conference here.

Kodak and Kofax Image Products announced a co-development agreement for sharing technical knowledge and collaborating on the development of future hardware and software for production document scanning. The wide-ranging agreement calls for transferring and leveraging selected existing technologies, and establishes the negotiating and legal structures required to expedite future co-development initiatives, the two companies said.

"This is an ambitious, open-ended agreement between Kofax and Kodak that strengthens our leadership positions in our respective areas of the document scanner An optical scanner geared to office documents rather than photographs. "I anticipate significant technology achievements in both the near and longer term that lead to world-class products from both companies -- all to the benefit of our customers."

The agreement with Kofax highlights the high-profile activities of Kodak Business Imaging Systems at the nation's premier conference for the imaging and document management industries. Kodak also unveiled a number of "break the mold" products for today's document image capture, storage and management applications. The theme at the Kodak booth (No. 201) is "Performance Driven" to reflect the winning ways of this year's Kodak- sponsored NASCAR NASCAR (National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing), organization that sanctions American stock-car races, est. 1948. Among other stipulations, the co-development agreement gives Kodak an option to buy these processors for utilization in its next generation of document scanners.
