process that is as yet under-exploited in the automotive industry. An exciting new technology, hydroforming has the potential to reduce component mass and cost, and improve performance by up to 20 per cent. The KBO prize was awarded to CorusAE for their creative approach in defining and solving a market need, for the strategic nature of the application to their business, and the demonstration of clear return on investment and cost savings to be gained both by CorusAE and by their customers.

Fokko Van Duyne, receiving the award, said, "It is an honor to accept this accolade in recognition of Corus' advances in bridging the gap between materials innovations and product realization to meet customer aspirations throughout the automotive supply chain. The knowledge-based environment is intrinsic to our ability to offer superior, differentiated material and technology solutions whilst continually reducing the manufacturing lead-time and cost."

Garreth Evans said, "It's a hugely rewarding experience when we are able to recognize our customers for achieving true engineering excellence and world leadership through the use of our technologies. Our stated aim is to provide this 'edge' for all our customers. We congratulate the KBE KBE (in Britain) Knight (Commander of the Order) of the British Empire  team and visionary management at Corus and suggest there is much to be learned from their approach and ground breaking results."
