BACKGROUND: Proceeds from the Holiday Marketplace and Preview Party
will be donated to local charities. Since its inception in 1985, the
Kingwood Women's Club has donated in excess of $350,000 to
organizations in the Kingwood and Humble area. Project Mammogram is a
project started in 2001 by a $5000 donation from Kingwood Women's Club
to the Northeast Hospital Foundation. This program provides mammogram
services for women who have no insurance or whose incomes are not low
enough to qualify for Medicaid. Kingwood Women's Club members also
support this project by providing volunteer assistance. KWC has
donated over $52,000 to Project Mammogram to date.

In addition to Project Mammogram, other regular recipients of funds
raised at the Holiday Marketplace include Society of St. Stephen,
HAAM, Family Time, Friends of the Library (FOLK), the Mission, Feed My
Lambs, and the Kingwood Pines Hospital adolescent ward. Scholarships
are also provided for students at Kingwood College.
