Kingsville announces piano and concerto competitions.The Music Club of Kingsville, Inc., will hold its annual Kingsville International Competitions--The Young Performers Concerto concerto (kənchâr`tō), musical composition usually for an orchestra and a soloist or a group of soloists. In the 16th cent. concertare and concertato implied an ensemble, either vocal or instrumental. and Isabel Scionti Piano Solo--April 7-9, 2005, at Texas A&M University-Kingsville. More than $24,000 in prize money is available for distribution to winners in various contests. The highest-ranking winner will receive a minimum of $5,000 and a performance with the Corpus Christi Corpus Christi, in Christianity Corpus Christi [Lat.,=body of Christ], feast of the Western Church, observed on the Thursday after Trinity Sunday (or on the following Sunday). Symphony Orchestra. Separate contests will be held in two divisions: junior (up to age 19) and senior (ages 20-25). The junior and senior prizes offered in each of the six preliminary contests and in the piano solo The piano is often used to provide harmonic accompaniment to a voice or other instrument. However, solo parts for the piano can be found in some musical styles. These can take the form of a section in which the piano is heard more prominently than other instruments, or in which the piano contest--piano concerto, bowed instrument concerto, non-bowed instrument concerto and piano solo--are $1,000 for first place, $500 for second place and $200 for third place. Additional special prizes include rewards of $1,000 and $500 for outstanding performances on violin, cello cello or 'cello: see violin. cello or violoncello Bowed, stringed instrument, the bass member of the violin family.
