Kingston Ships ValueRAM Line For Integrators. In mid-July, Kingston Technology Company announced that it has begun selling a new line of standard memory products aimed specifically at systems integrators who build their own white box (non-branded) systems. The ValueRAM line, which will be available through Tech Data and a toll-free phone number (below), will include most industry-standard memory modules, including SDRAM (Synchronous DRAM) A type of dynamic RAM (DRAM) memory chip that has been widely used since the late 1990s. SDRAM chips eliminated wait states by dividing the chip into two cell blocks and interleaving data between them. PC66, SDRAM PC100, Fast Page Mode See page mode memory. , EDO Edo: see Tokyo, Japan. and SODIMM (Small Outline-DIMM) A DIMM module with a thinner profile due to the use of TSOP chip packages. SODIMMs are commonly used in laptop computers. See memory module and TSOP. . "The new ValueRAM product line will enable Kingston to effectively target small to medium system integrators," says David Sun, co-founder and vice president at Kingston. At www.valueram.com, integrators can see current RAM prices, specials, and data sheets. Curiously, however, online ordering from the site was not possible at press time; qualification forms (in PDF) must be downloaded and faxed back to Kingston. Qualified buyers must be certified resellers, VARs, or systems integrators. |
