) on Thursday, October 14 at The National Arts Club The National Arts Club is a private club founded in 1898 to "stimulate, foster, and promote public interest in the arts and to educate the American people in the fine arts". Since 1906 the organization has occupied the Samuel J. . Hynes will discuss issues of importance to public safety.

Hynes was elected district attorney in November of 2001 and is now serving his fourth term in office as the county's DA. Hynes also serves as an adjunct professor of trial advocacy at three New York City New York City: see New York, city.

Prior to being elected to district attorney, Hynes worked as Special State Prosecutor to investigate nursing home fraud. The same year he was elected the first president of the National Association of Medicaid Fraud Control Units. In 1980, Hynes was appointed Fire Commissioner of New York City by Mayor Edward I. Koch. In 1985, Governor Mario Cuomo appointed Hynes as a Special State Prosecutor for the New York City criminal justice system.

In 1987, the Hynes became the center of national attention when Governor Cuomo called on him to investigate the murder of Michael Griffith in Howard Beach. As the special prosecutor and chief trial attorney in that case, Hynes led the investigation and prosecution that resulted in three homicide convictions. In 1989, District Attorney Charles J. In his childhood, He attended St. Ann's Academy in New York City (now Archbishop Molloy High School in Briarwood, Queens). Hynes received his JD from St. John's University in Jamaica, Queens.  was elected the 27th chief law enforcement officer of Kings County in Brooklyn.

District Attorney Hynes is a proud and life-long resident of Brooklyn, where he was born and raised in the Flatbush section of the borough. Hynes has served as a member of the Board of Trustees board of trustees Politics The posse of thugs who oversee an institution's administration. He has coauthored and published two books, "Incident at Howard Beach: The Case For Murder," and "The Regulation of Nursing Homes: A Case Study."
