Killer who kept girl in the fridge gets life; 'Pet-Man' to be quizzed on four other murders.
SADIST John Taylor was jailed for life yesterday after killing a schoolgirl for sexual kicks then storing her body in his fridge.
The one-time dog breeder dragged 16-year-old Leanne Tiernan off the street and put a collar round her neck, Leeds Crown Court heard.
Detectives are now investigating Taylor over four more murders.
Dubbed the Pet Man, Taylor, 46, used to get his kicks from torturing animals he had poached.
But his final victim was an innocent schoolgirl he hunted "for his own sexual gratification".
After throttling Leanne with a scarf and cable ties, delivery man Taylor stored her body in a huge refrigerator.
Then he had bondage sessions with girlfriends in the same house.
In the months before Leanne's body was found, Taylor re-enacted the strangling during sex games.
Taylor kept the body in a fridge for between three weeks and nine months. It was later found in a wood where he poached. Sentencing the father-of-two, judge Mr Justice Astill said: "You are a dangerous sexual sadist. You can expect to spend the rest of your life in custody."
Leanne had been shopping in Leeds city centre in November 2000 when Taylor, who lived nearby, pounced as she walked to her Bramley home.
He snatched her from a path known as Houghley Gill, blindfolded her and made her walk 20 minutes to his home.
Prosecutor Robert Smith QC said: "He confronted Leanne Tiernan, stifled her after she had emitted one scream and compelled her to go to his home.
"There, he bound her hands behind her back and deliberately strangled her."
When asked by police why, Taylor said: "I have no idea."
Mr Smith said there was evidence Taylor took sexual pleasure from tying women up.
He added: "There is evidence that he also may have engaged in some sexual activity with Leanne Tiernan."
Leanne was found with no boots on and her jacket had been removed. The position of her underclothes and the presence of pubic hairs at the scene suggested she was indecently assaulted.
Mr Smith said: "The motive for killing her was for sexual gratification."
Five months before Leanne went missing, Taylor tied another lover up.
Mr Smith said: "He put a black cable tie round her wrists and ankles. He cut four lengths of twine and tied her to the four corners of his bed. Tight cables were tied around each breast."
The woman, known only as Miss B, told police it was "sadistic sex".
Four months after the killing, Taylor told another girlfriend that he wanted to tie up her 15-year-old daughter.
Taylor admitted murdering Leanne and nodded as sentence was passed.
He told police that he wrapped up Leanne's body the morning after she died. Later, he hid the body in a shallow grave 15 miles from her home.
As Leanne's family wept, the judge told Taylor: "After the death of this girl at your hands you wanted sexual deviancy with a girl of similar age.
"That not only demonstrates how dangerous you are but demonstrates your lack of remorse.
"This was a planned, premeditated encounter. You chose a secluded place and a vulnerable young girl.
"This was as cold and calculating as can be imagined."
Leanne's mother Sharon Hawkhead, 41, said: "Although John Taylor has been locked up, our agony continues. We are pleased that he has been locked up so he can't do this to anyone else."
