Kidnapped bishop returns home. (News in Brief: Colombia).Bogota--Eight months after the murder of Archbishop Isaias Duarte Cancino, two recent kidnapped victims, Bishop Jimenez Carvaja, president of the Latin American bishops' council and a priest, were rescued by the Colombian military. President Alvaro Uribe, in contrast to the soft approach of his predecessor, has promised to restore law and order in a country torn by a 38-year civil war. He has reassured the armed forces and his countrymen that he will back tough measures to rid the country of FARC FARC - Federal Archives & Records Center FARC - Fly Away Recompression Chamber FARC - Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia (Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia), Latin America's oldest and largest guerilla army and the perpetrator of thousands of kidnappings each year, including those of Catholic priests and religious.
