Kidnapped bishop returns home. (News in Brief: Colombia).


Bogota--Eight months after the murder of Archbishop Isaias Duarte Cancino, two recent kidnapped victims, Bishop Jimenez Carvaja, president of the Latin American bishops' council and a priest, were rescued by the Colombian military.

President Alvaro Uribe, in contrast to the soft approach of his predecessor, has promised to restore law and order in a country torn by a 38-year civil war. He has reassured the armed forces and his countrymen that he will back tough measures to rid the country of FARC Noun 1.
