Keystone Chapter hosts joint meeting and tour with other area associations.

More than 100 people attended a joint meeting and tour of Air Products & Chemicals Inc., Allentown, Penn., in January. Hosted in part by the AFS A distributed file system for large, widely dispersed Unix and Windows networks from Transarc Corporation, now part of IBM. It is noted for its ease of administration and expandability and stems from Carnegie-Mellon's Andrew File System.

The meeting was a collaborative effort with the Lehigh Valley The Lehigh Valley or the Allentown-Bethlehem-Easton, PA-NJ metropolitan area is a metropolitan region in eastern Pennsylvania and western New Jersey, in the United States. It is the third-most populated metropolitan region in Pennsylvania, after Philadelphia and Pittsburgh.  Foundry-men's Association, Bethlehem, Penn., the Reading Section of the American Society of Quality, and the Lehigh Valley, Philadelphia Liberty Bell, and South Central Chapters of the American Society of Metals. More involvement with these organizations is planned for the future.

"With the concentration of association chapters in the area and the tendency for people to be members of several associations, we often have to compete with each other for attendance," said Trevor Shellhammer, 2nd vice-chairman of the AFS Keystone Chapter.

"By collaborating with other associations' area chapters, we can offer our members more beneficial meetings."
