Kenya PM to undergo 'medical procedure' in Germany

Kenya's prime minister left the country Sunday for a "brief medical procedure" in Germany, his spokesman said.

Prime Minister Raila Odinga was traveling with his wife and will be back in Nairobi on Friday, said the spokesman, Salim Lone.

There were no immediate details on the procedure.

Odinga and President Mwai Kibaki recently struck a power-sharing agreement after both men claimed to have won the Dec. 27 presidential election. The disputed vote unleashed weeks of ethnically tinged violence. More than 1,200 people died and 300,000 were displaced.

On Saturday, Odinga and Kibaki finished a three-day "peace tour" of the hardest-hit areas.
