Kenya's mobile base grows by 4%.
The country's mobile subscriber base grew by 4%, which
translates into 1m new mobile phone subscribers in the first three
months of 2012. Kenya now has 29.2m mobile subscriptions, compared to
28.08m in December 2011. At the end of the first quarter of 2012,
Kenya's mobile penetration stood at 74%, 3% higher than at the end
of 2011. The country experienced a 4% drop in subscription rates for
fixed land lines, down from 283,546 to 272,101. Internet Internet

increased by 5.5%, from 6.1m to 6.4m during the quarter under review.
