The far-reaching commercial arrangement follows up a period of collaboration that has included a series of highly successful demonstrations of Kenwood home entertainment prototypes enabled with 1394 technology.

The agreement for Kenwood to use Zayante TNF software in its products includes TNF Kernel and link layer drivers, TNF AV/C with appropriate sub-units, TNF support for the EIA (Electronic Industries Alliance, Arlington, VA, www.eia.org) A membership organization founded in 1924 as the Radio Manufacturing Association. It sets standards for consumer products and electronic components.  775 DTV (Digital TeleVision) Transmitting TV using digital signals. The major DTV standards are ATSC (North America), DVB (Europe) and ISDB (Japan). All three use MPEG-2 video compression and Dolby Digital audio compression. DVB and ISDB also include MPEG audio compression.  interface and 5C content protection, and TNF IP1394. The ability to support a wide range of protocols and the ability to tailor the software to the requirements of each product are seen as key attributes.
