 Jackson and Barbara Banke are throwing open the doors of the Kendall-Jackson Wine Center to host the First Annual Kendall-Jackson International Fencing Tournament and Dinner on Saturday, July 20, 2002.

The event, a benefit for educational scholarships, promises to be a cultural exchange between Sonoma County and the historically significant French and Italian fencing traditions. Renowned French and American chefs will prepare a dinner paired with wines produced by various American, French and Italian winemakers.

The Kendall-Jackson International Fencing Tournament and Dinner celebrates a culmination of a week of training and competition organized by Fencing Masters Michael Pacheco and Marcos Luchetti. American fencers of all levels will join 50 French fencers, including five French Fencing Masters, at the Fifth Annual French-American Fencing Camp in Windsor, Calif. during July 15-20, 2002. Top French and Italian fencers have been invited to train and compete against some of the leading American foil fencers This is a list of American foil fencers. (Only noted and contemporary American foil fencers are included):

The Kendall-Jackson International Fencing Tournament and Dinner is a benefit for Sonoma Academy Sonoma Academy is a private coed four-year college prepatory high school for people located in Santa Rosa, California. It was founded in 2001 by Lisa French, Barbara Banke, Beverly Zeigler, Rosalind Manoogian, Greg French, Susan Wynne, Carol Farrow, Katherine Angell, Michael , an independent, college-preparatory high school located in Sonoma County. All proceeds will support the Sonoma Academy Scholarship Fund, a 501(c)(3) organization.

Sonoma Academy Head of School Janet Durgin commented, "Thanks to founders like Jess Jackson and Barbara Banke, Sonoma Academy is accessible to all students through need-based scholarships. This generosity and vision insures a dynamic and culturally vibrant educational future in Sonoma County."
