LOS ALTOS Los Altos (lôs ăl`tōs, lŏs), residential city (1990 pop. 26,303), Santa Clara co., W Calif.; inc. 1952. There is diversified light manufacturing. , Calif. & PUNE, India--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 30, 2004

Kenati Technologies today announced the release of NP BloX, a revolutionary product to create management applications for embedded devices. NP BloX provides a structured approach to creating CLI (1) (Call Level Interface) A database programming interface from the SQL Access Group (SAG), an SQL membership organization. SAG's CLI is an attempt to standardize the SQL language for database access. , SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) A widely used network monitoring and control protocol. Data are passed from SNMP agents, which are hardware and/or software processes reporting activity in each network device (hub, router, bridge, etc. , Web interfaces, and XML XML

Markup language developed to be a simplified and more structural version of SGML. It incorporates features of HTML (e.g., hypertext linking), but is designed to overcome some of HTML's limitations.

. NP BloX, when used in conjunction with Kenati's NP Embedded Linux The Linux operating system configured and enhanced to work in a wide variety of applications, including handheld devices, network appliances, industrial machines and consumer electronics devices. The modularity of the Linux kernel makes it well suited to embedded systems. , creates a complete, royalty-free, top-to-bottom software solution for developing and managing secure network-attached devices.

"We have created a product that allows application developers to focus on writing device applications, while Kenati's framework provides commonly required network device management capabilities. Developers can use NP BloX to develop multiple management interfaces with a single definition of backend access logic in XML format removing the tedium of developing embedded management applications," said Sanmitra Pandharpur, Kenati's VP of Product Development.

NP BloX includes IDE-based development tools that drastically reduce development time while offering features that facilitate concurrent, reliable, and secure processing of device management requests and notifications. Application developers need only define and code the parameterized access to their backend applications and integrate those with the framework. Management applications can be interfaced with the backend applications with almost no additional coding.

This product is optimized for embedded applications with an extremely small memory footprint Memory footprint refers to the amount of main memory that a program uses or references while running. This includes all sorts of active memory regions like code, static data sections (both initialized and uninitialized), heap, as well as all the stacks, plus memory required to hold , and is architected from the ground-up to reduce development, maintenance, and deployment costs. Network Device manufacturers can greatly reduce their cost of development and bring the products to market faster without royalties.

"NP BloX is the culmination of hundreds of man-years of experience at Kenati in the development of network management solutions. Our early access customers are raving about the amount of time and money savings NP Blox accrues, its rich features, and the completeness of the solution compared to anything else out there," commented Sanmitra.
