Ken Kesey novel next selection for book group.

Cowboy up, Second Sunday Book Club members! By which we mean any Register-Guard readers who'd like to virtually join a local book club's discussion of a particular book each month.

This month's selection is "Last Go Round," the late Ken Kesey's 1994 fictionalized account of the origins of the Pendleton Round-Up The Pendleton Round-Up is a rodeo held in Pendleton, Oregon, United States, during the second full week of September each year, since 1910. The rodeo brings roughly 50,000 people every year to the city of Pendleton. .

The book is the December pick of the Off the Beaten Path Book Club, so named because many members hail from outside Eugene in communities such as Crow, Elmira, Junction City Junction City, city (1990 pop. 20,604), seat of Geary co., NE Kans., at the confluence of the Republican and Smoky Hill rivers; inc. 1859. The rail, trade, and processing center of an agricultural and dairy area, it grew as the supply point for nearby Fort Riley,  and Noti.

There are two ways to participate:

Readers who want their comments included in Off the Beaten Path's discussion on Dec. 13 can e-mail in a one-paragraph comment by 5 p.m. Dec. 12 to kmccowan@ guardnet.com.

The Register-Guard will continue to accept comments on the book until noon Dec. 22 for inclusion in a compendium com·pen·di·um
