Kemper Insurance Launches Automatic Subrogation Alert.

Kemper Insurance Cos., Long Grove, Ill., has licensed software to automatically identify claims with a high potential for subrogation--claims that should actually be paid by another party.

The software, developed by HNC Insurance Solutions, a unit of HNC Software, uses predictive modeling techniques to analyze an insurance company's database. It flags claims that have the potential to be subrogated to the company's claims analysts for further review.

"Reducing losses through improved identification of claims that should be paid by a third party can save insurance carriers millions of dollars each year," Sean Downs, president, HNC Insurance Solutions, said in a statement.
