Keewaydin to Lead Portland Fine Arts Facilities Study; Study Will Explore Large-Scale Performing Arts Center.

MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 6, 2002

Keewaydin Real Estate Advisors, one of the top ten real estate service providers in the country, has been selected to conduct a feasibility study "A Feasibility Study" is an episode of the original The Outer Limits television show. It first aired on 13 April, 1964, during the first season. It was remade in 1997 as part of the revived The Outer Limits series with a minor title change.  for a multiple venue performing arts facility in Portland, Oregon. As part of the six-month project, Keewaydin will lead a team of experts from across the United States United States, officially United States of America, republic (2005 est. pop. 295,734,000), 3,539,227 sq mi (9,166,598 sq km), North America. The United States is the world's third largest country in population and the fourth largest country in area.  to evaluate the needs of the organizations and to determine how the community might benefit from a new performing arts venue.

Keewaydin was awarded the Portland study for the Portland BODS BODS British Oceanographic Data Services , which consists of the Oregon Ballet Theatre Oregon Ballet Theatre is the premiere ballet company for the state of Oregon. The company is the result of the 1992 merging of Ballet Oregon and Pacific Ballet Theater. James Canfield, formerly a dancer with Joffrey Ballet as well as a principal dancer for Pacific Ballet Theater, , Portland Opera, Portland Center Stage and the Oregon Symphony The Oregon Symphony is an American orchestra based in Portland, Oregon. Its home venue is the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall in downtown Portland's Cultural District. It is the sixth oldest orchestra in the U.S. . The project under consideration may include three major performance venues: a 2,200-seat symphony hall There are a number of concert halls known as Symphony Hall. Among the best known are:
  • Symphony Hall in Allentown, Pennsylvania in the United States
  • Symphony Hall, Birmingham
  • Symphony Hall, Boston
  • Symphony Hall, Phoenix
  • Symphony Hall, Springfield
, a 2,000-seat hall for dance and opera, a 500 to 600-seat theater, and a 200-seat flexible performance space. Other facilities, such a production, rehearsal, administration and audience amenities may also be included.

The Keewaydin team was selected to lead the Portland project The Portland Project is an initiative taken to establish a greater Linux foothold in the desktop market. It aims at resolving a number of key factors that are believed to reduce the adoption rate of Linux distributions as desktop operating systems.  over three of the nation's top fine arts planning firms. Joining Keewaydin, which will serve as the Project Manager and oversee real estate analysis and development, are: Cogan Owens Cogan, a Portland-based firm specializing in public involvement, policy planning, intergovernmental relations and consensus-building for public and private clients; David Hawkanson, an arts management consultant and former managing director of Minnesota's Guthrie Theatre; Fisher Dachs Associates, specialists in theatre planning and design; Donnell Consultants, Inc., veterans in the field of arts facility costs and construction; Campbell & Company, experts in philanthropic market studies and fundraising analysis; and Zimmer Gunsul Frasca Partnership, a respected Portland architecture firm experienced in planning and site selection issues.
