It is a major day of global celebration for the economic, political and social achievements of women. , Senator Rabiebrat was awarded "Outstanding Woman of the year" by World Fellowship of Buddhists The World Fellowship of Buddhists (WFB) is arguably the largest and most influential international Buddhist organization. Senator Rabiebrat headed her study group, presented her report for a public hearing on "Bhikkhuni" at the Parliament: Some people who came with an intention to protest, after having heard her presentation of a thoroughly researched work, admitted that they have to agree with her findings. They further wished her a success to pursue her support on ordination of women.

Pra Bhavanavisuddhikhun, a senior monk in Rajburi province received the Bhikkhuni warmly in the presence of more than a hundred monk residents. He also gave an introduction to the monks about the possibility of establishing the bhikkhuni sangha sangha: see Buddhism.

 bhikkhuni-Dhammananda paid a respect and made an offering of books to Somdej Pra Puddhacaraya (Wat Saket) at a temple in Rajburi. Sheasked for blessing and offered her service to the sangha. The Somdej is the most senior monk in the country, a no. 1 candidate to be the next Sangharaja. The Somdej received her warmly.

* April 6, 2003

Ven.Maha Theri Voramai Kabilsingh celebrated her 95 birthday, and oldest living bhikkhuni in Thailand. Lasst year she was recognized by the World Fellowship of Buddhist as an outstanding Buddhist women who was courageous and paved the way for ordination of women in Thailand.

Senator Sunee In-Chat was appointed director of a Buddhist group with an aim to support the status of ordained women.

Nine bronze statues of Maha Pajapati Theri (height 84 cms.) were casted and blessed at Songdhammakalyani Temple, centre for the bhikkhuni sangha in Thailand. They will be distributed to various centres and nunneries both in Thailand, U.S.A. and other countries.

* July-October, 2003

There will be a group of international bhikkhunis who will be invited and stay together as a sangha during this coming vassa for, training and practice at Songdhammakalyani temple, the bhikkhunis centre. This will be the first time in the history of Thailand The history of Thailand begins with the migration of the Thais from their ancestral home in southern China into mainland southeast Asia around the 10th century AD. Prior to this Mon, Khmer and Malay kingdoms ruled the region.  to have a sangha of bhikkhunis staying for the vassa.
