Bruce Vilanch Bruce Vilanch (born November 23, 1947) is an American comedy writer who caught the public eye when he became a wisecracking regular on the revamped Hollywood Squares with Whoopi Goldberg.

Vilanch was born into a Jewish family and is a practicing Jew.
 writes in his column [Notes From a Blond, September 16], "The conventional beauties make it to prime time; the 'real people' don't even qualify for reality shows." Has Bruce forgotten about Richard Hatch Richard Hatch is a name used by the following people:
  • Richard Hatch (actor), played Captain Apollo in the original Battlestar Galactica and plays Tom Zarek in the re-imagined Battlestar Galactica.
 of the original Survivor show--not exactly a beauty and most of the time walking around butt-naked? We need more Hatches in prime time. Unfortunately, he probably wouldn't get a second look as a contestant today.
