The Port Authority will join other public agencies and private organizations to sponsor the 11th Annual Competitive Edge Conference.

This two-day event features workshops and seminars addressing issues of importance to disadvantaged, minority-owned, women-owned and small businesses.

The conference takes place Monday, August 9, between 5:30 and 8 p.m. and Tuesday, August 10, between 8 a.m. and 6:15 p.m. at the Museum of Jewish Heritage The Museum of Jewish Heritage, located at 36 Battery Park Place, Manhattan (New York City, USA), was created as a living memorial to the Holocaust. The hexagonal shape and tiered roof of the building are symbolic of the six points of the Star of David and the six million Jews who , 36 Battery Place, Battery Park City in Manhattan.

Workshops offered will include Developers Forum, New Visions for Women Entrepreneurs, Procurement The fancy word for "purchasing." The procurement department within an organization manages all the major purchases.  Opportunities, Access to Capital, Insurance and Bonding and Becoming a Union Contractor.

Registrants will have an opportunity to meet with general contractors A general contractor is an organization or individual that contracts with another organization or individual (the owner) for the construction of a building, road or any other execution of work or facility.  and key procurement specialists and certification managers from major corporations and governmental agencies, market their services and hear directly from conference sponsors and exhibitors about contracting opportunities.
