Housman was responsible for the leasing efforts for a portfolio of thirteen shopping centers shopping center, a concentration of retail, service, and entertainment enterprises designed to serve the surrounding region. The modern shopping center differs from its antecedents—bazaars and marketplaces—in that the shops are usually amalgamated into throughout Florida. Prior to Ramco-Gershenson, she was based in Boston, MA as a retail leasing representative with Edens & Avant. Her responsibilities included overseeing the leasing efforts for a portfolio of properties throughout Massachusetts, Rhode Island Rhode Island, island, United States Rhode Island, island, 15 mi (24 km) long and 5 mi (8 km) wide, S R.I., at the entrance to Narragansett Bay.
