Latest Release of Version 6.0 Corporate Malware Protection Offers New Approach to Endpoint Security

SAN FRANCISCO San Francisco (săn frănsĭs`kō), city (1990 pop. 723,959), coextensive with San Francisco co., W Calif., on the tip of a peninsula between the Pacific Ocean and San Francisco Bay, which are connected by the strait known as the Golden  -- Kaspersky Lab Kaspersky Lab is a computer security company, co-founded by Natalia Kaspersky and Eugene Kaspersky in 1997, offering antivirus, anti-spyware, anti-spam, and anti-intrusion products. , a leading developer of secure content management solutions that protect against viruses, spyware, hackers and spam, today announced the debut of Kaspersky[R] Open Space Security(TM) (KOSS KOSS Keep Our Schools Strong (Fort Mill, SC)

), a complete suite of business products that enables enterprises to solve the ever-expanding security issues arising from today's mobile and distributed workforce. Kaspersky Open Space Security includes protection for both network perimeters and all nodes on the network, regardless of location, type of device, or platform.

"One of the most pressing issues facing the enterprise today is endpoint security," said Christian Christiansen Christian Christiansen (born October 9, 1843 in Loenborg, Denmark, died 1917) was a Danish physicist.

Christiansen first taught at the local polytechnical school. In 1886 he was appointed to a chair for physics at the University of Copenhagen.
, IDC's VP of Security Products & Services. "As endpoints become more dispersed, worker mobility will remain a productivity boon and a security burden. One solution is a single security policy that is independent of device type, operating system operating system (OS)

, and network.. To implement this approach, enterprises should consider Kaspersky Open Space Security for its flexibility and proven protection."

As part of the new Kaspersky OpenSpace multi-tiered security, the company is complementing both its gateway and mail server protection with the introduction of its newest generation of products - Kaspersky Anti-Virus Kaspersky Anti-Virus (Russian: Антивирус Касперского; formerly known as AntiViral Toolkit Pro) is an antivirus program developed by Kaspersky Lab.  6.0 for Windows Workstations (1) Any PC running Windows.

, Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 for Windows File Servers and Kaspersky Administration Kit 6.0. Also being introduced is Kaspersky[R] Mobile Security for smart devices.

"Today's corporate computing needs are outgrowing traditional malware defenses, making security beyond the perimeter a major issue on how to best protect the network and accommodate the growth of mobile workers," said Steve Orenberg, president, Kaspersky Lab, Inc. "Kaspersky Open Space Security answers that challenge, providing true 'follow me' security to allow any corporate worker to feel secure working from any location on any computing device."

KOSS

With laptops making up a growing percentage of corporate workstation purchases, along with the seemingly daily introduction of powerful new PDAs and smartphones, corporate computing has crossed over into undefined open space beyond the corporate firewall. KOSS is designed to provide flexibility to this new dynamic nature of an ever-increasing mobile workforce while ensuring security both on and off the corporate network.

KOSS provides full flexibility for setting policies for mobile and remote users to ensure maximum protection for laptops disconnected from the corporate network, prescribing the source and frequency of anti-malware updates, scanning schedules, personal firewall configuration and more. Cisco([R]) NAC See network access control.  (Network Admission Control) is also supported by KOSS, making it possible for computers to be checked during reconnection to the network after an absence. If an infected computer is detected, it is blocked from any network connection, enabling administrators to track down the source of the infection.

Version 6.0

KOSS is built upon the award-winning Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 engine, first debuted in Q2 2006 with the introduction of Kaspersky's 6.0 personal products. Version 6.0 brings powerful proactive protection to its already acclaimed signature-based protection, coupling both standard anti-malware hourly updates with an advanced warning system to guard against potential threats. This can be especially important for users who have not had the opportunity to fully update their malware databases will being remote from the network.

Version 6.0 is built for accelerated system performance, requiring minimal space on any node to run robust protection. And the system's proprietary ISwift(TM) and IChecker(TM) technologies significantly optimize scanning for markedly increased performance.

Additionally, Version 6.0 includes these new capabilities -

* Fully integrated firewall with intrusion detection See IDS and IPS.  and prevention and additional protection for all types of networks including WIFI

* Rootkit detection

* Powerful set of new, centralized cen·tral·ize
