KAREN Dunbar Karen Dunbar is a Scottish comedian and entertainer born in Ayr.
She first came to the attention of mainstream audiences in the BBC Scotland comedy series Chewin' the Fat and subsequently was given her own show by the network - The Karen Dunbar Show. was the highlight of Happy Hollidays as the jakey karaoke singer with a chip on her shoulder cos she's singing in Ayrshire - not Vegas.
This comedy had a familiar feel, with old faces Ford Kiernan and Gavin Mitchell and plenty of childish gags bringing us halfway between Still Game and Dear Green Place territory.
Its writers Simon Carlyle and Gregor Sharp were behind the hilarious Burns mockumentary No Holds Bard earlier this year.
So let's hope for the slow burn because on first viewing the laugh rate is a bit like sunny days at a Scottish caravan park - one in two.
