Karen Middleton Joins ScholarCentric as Vice President of Development.

Member of Colorado State Board of Education Brings Extensive K-12 and Higher Education Experience to Denver Education Publishing Company

DENVER -- Karen Middleton has joined ScholarCentric([TM])as vice president of development. In her new position at the Denver-based company, Middleton will manage and expand the company's relationships in the education community. A current member of the Colorado State Board of Education representing the Seventh Congressional District, Middleton brings 20 years of experience in both K-12 and higher education to her new position with ScholarCentric.

ScholarCentric is focused on developing research-based products that build academic success. Previously Middleton owned a non-profit management firm focusing on education-related projects and policy, serving clients such as the Institute of International Education, the Colorado Children's Campaign and Up with People. She also served in a variety of positions with the Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education, the Center for Internet Technology in Education at eCollege and the University of Denver.

In addition to serving on the state board of education, Middleton is involved in numerous local, state and national education groups, such as the Alliance for Quality Teaching and the Aurora Education Foundation. She was also instrumental in the founding of the North American Council for On-Line Learning, an association for K-12 online teaching and learning.

Middleton has numerous presentations, publications and awards to her credit. She earned a bachelor of arts from Mount Holyoke College, a master of arts from the University of Colorado at Denver and is a candidate for a master's degree from the college of education at the University of Denver.
