Kanebo Foods Extracts Highly Concentrated Polyphenol from Chestnut Skin.Tokyo, Japan, Sept 29, 2005 - (JCNN JCNN Japan Corporate News Network ) - Kanebo Foods has established a method to extract polyphenol polyphenol Any of various alcohols containing two or more benzene rings that each have at least one hydroxyl group (OH) attached. Many polyphenols occur naturally in plants and some kinds, such as the flavonoids and tannins, are believed to be beneficial from chestnut skin. The new method, which is based on heat extraction using ethanol, can extract polyphenol at a high concentration level. The extracted powder is proanthocyanidin, a kind of polyphenol found in red fine and grape seeds. Further, in the recent mice experiments, the company has confirmed that the extracted polyphenol powder has a property to suppress the glucose level.
