Kalian buys 15-acre site for seniors.


The Kalian Companies has acquired a 15-acre site in the Mercer county township of Lawrence for a new active adult condominium community in Central New Jersey.

The company plans to open sales for Carriage Park later this year, according to the Red Bank-based developer. Carriage Park is designed to be an intimate collection of 210 one-and two-bedroom condominium homes for active adults aged 55 and older.

"We've been fortunate to obtain a spectacular site in a private setting close to a number of amenities for active adults," said Alton Evans, vice president of sales and marketing for Kalian.

"Kalian has long been known for developing well-built, upscale residential communities in some of the country's finest residential settings. This tradition will continue at Carriage Park at Lawrence, with purchasers receiving the same personal approach and commitment to unparalleled quality and superior customer service associated with every Kalian neighborhood."

Carriage Park at Lawrence will feature a mixture of 14 different one-and two-bedroom housing floorplans, offering up to 1,540 s/f of space and featuring a host of distinctive architectural elements and amenities. Homes are expected to be pre-construction priced from the high $100,000s.

"These homes will be perfectly suited to the needs and desires of today's active adults," Mr. Evans said. "By offering a wide choice of well-designed floorplans, Carriage Park can accommodate a variety of different tastes and preferences."

Carriage Park at Lawrence will include a lawn area with central gazebo, two brick courtyards and a walking path winding around the community. Residents will also en joy a wide array of on-site amenities, including a 6,200 s/f clubhouse facility with outdoor pool and terrace, great room, formal lobby, card room, fitness center, billiard room, library, craft room and kitchen facilities. Two bocce courts, two horseshoe courts, shuffleboard shuffleboard, sport in which players use cue sticks to push disks onto a scoring diagram at either end of a concrete or terrazzo court. The court is 52 ft (15.85 m) long and 6 ft (1.83 m) wide. The bases of the triangular scoring diagrams are parallel to and 8 ft (2.44 m) from the court's end lines. Each diagram is 9 ft (2.74 m) long and 6 ft (1.83 m) wide at the base. Lines parallel to the base divide each diagram into 7-, 8-, and 10-point sections. Extending 1. courts and a 'free play' lawn area will also be available.

Lawrence boasts a convenient location in the heart of Mercer county. The town is surrounded by a wealth of transportation options, including Princeton Pike, Interstates 95 and 295 and Route 1, as well as convenient access to the Princeton Junction and Hamilton or Trenton Train Stations.
