KUWAIT - KPC Officials:.
In March 1995 Hussein as head of international marketing succeeded Shaikh Ali Al Jabir Al Ali Al Sabah as the latter's term expired.
Shaikha Bint Saad Al Abdullah Al Sabah now controls international marketing at KPC. She is a daughghter of Crown Prince and Prime Minister Shaikh Saad Al Abdullah. Until late August 1998, the shaikha used to be executive assistant managing director for international marketing under Hussein.
Among those assisting in the international marketing division have been figures like Hussein Al Shamm'a and Khalid Haroon, with KPC's European sales office in London headed by Abdel Samad Al Awadi.
Jamal Al Loughani was in early September 1998 appointed as office manager at KPC Singapore, replacing Sulaiman Al Nadji, as Tareq Al Wazzan was made office manager of KPC in Tokyo.
In March 1999, the top management at KPC appointed the follow-ing figures in the international marketing division:
Tareq Al Wazzan as head of the Crude Oil Dept., having served as head of KPC's Tokyo office from September 1998 till early March 1999.
Fahd Al Nashmi as head of the LPG and Naphtha Dept.
Hoda Al Takrit, an impressive female executive, as head of the Bunker Fuel Dept.
Amira Al Angari, another impressive female executive, as head of the Supply Dept.
For the longer term, the international marketing division will be concentrating on the Asia/Pacific basin.
Abdel Latif Hamad Al Torah: Chairman of the board and CEO of Kuwait Oil Co. (KOC), Torah took up this position in 1998 to succeed Khalid Yousef Al Fulaij. Like Fulaij, Totah is opposed to proposals for KOC to be converted into a division of KPC. Its executives argue that KOC predates KPC by 46 years and has earned itself a good identity as an upstream operator.
Fulaij in March 1999 was made personal advisor to the chairman of the Supreme Petroleum Council (SPC). Usually headed by the Prime Minister and Crown Prince, Shaikh Saad Al Abdullah Al Sabah, since 1997 most SPC meetings have been headed by Shaikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Sabah, the first deputy premier and foreign minister who is also an acting chairman of this council.
Right under Totah comes Ahmad Al Arbeed, who is a managing director of KOC in charge of planning and fields' development. He and CEO Torah are on a special committee chaired by Oil Minister Shaikh Saud Al Nasser Al Sabah which oversees the planned participation of foreign companies in the development of seven oilfields.
