KUWAIT - Apr 4 - FM Named.Emir Shaikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah Jaber al-Ahmad al-Sabah (jā`bĕr är-äkh`mäd ä-säbä`), 1926–2006, emir of Kuwait (1977–2006). A member of Kuwait's ruling Sabah family, he was the third son of Sheikh Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah (r. appoints long-serving bureaucrat Bader Mishari Al-Humaidhi as new FM. Humaidhi replaces Mahmud Al-Nuri whose resignation was accepted on Apr 3 one year after he submitted it following a vote of no-confidence in the outspoken Parliament which he narrowly survived. PM Shaikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah said the minister's resignation had been accepted for health reasons. Since 1986, the new minister had been director general of the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED KFAED Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development ), a state-run fund that provides development loans at reduced interest rates. Humaidhi, 56, holds a university degree in economics and is the emirate's representative on several international economic bodies. |
