KROVOZA TO STAR AS SYMPHONY'S GUEST CONDUCTOR.

John Krovoza, who has toured with New Age musician Yanni for three years, will serve as guest conductor Saturday for the Antelope Valley Symphony Orchestra's ``Sounds Like Pops'' concert.

Saturday's program will include ``Fanfare for the Common Man'' and ``Appalachian Spring'' by Aaron Copland, Leonard Bernstein's ``Overture to Candide The Overture to Candide is the overture to Leonard Bernstein's operetta Candide. Although the operetta never achieved the mainstream popularity of West Side Story, the overture has earned a part in the orchestral repertoire. ,'' Samuel Barber's Adagio for Strings "Adagio for Strings" is a work for string orchestra, arranged by the American composer Samuel Barber from his first string quartet. The Lee Matalon Jazz Quartet will be featured in selected works by Duke Ellington.

In touring with Yanni, Krovoza has performed in 45 cities around the world. He has appeared in and played for several movies, music videos, commercials and television shows.

Perhaps better recognized as a cellist, Krovoza has conducted for Long Beach Ballett, Riverside Ballet, Riverside Symphony, Pasadena Young Musicians Orchestra, Northern Arizona University Northern Arizona University (NAU) is a public university in Flagstaff, Arizona in the United States.

As of Fall 2007, the university has 21,352 students, 13,989 of these are situated in the main Flagstaff campus<ref name="Enrollment" />.
 Symphony and Chamber Orchestras and others.

He has degrees in cello and conducting from CSUN CSUN California State University Northridge  and Northern Arizona University.

He was a conducting student at the Aspen Music School and at the South Carolina Conductors Institute. He has studied with Paul Vermel, Kurt Weinzinger, Hans Beer, Daniel Lewis and Jorge Mester.

The orchestra performs at 8 p.m. Saturday at the Lancaster Performing Arts Center A performing arts center, often abbreviated PAC, is a multi-use performance space that can be adapted for use by various types of the performing arts, including dance, music and theatre. , 750 W.
