KOMODO DRAGON ATTACKS ACTRESS STONE'S HUSBAND.

A Komodo dragon attacked the executive editor of the San Francisco Chronicle The San Francisco Chronicle was founded in 1865 as The Daily Dramatic Chronicle by teenage brothers Charles de Young and Michael H. de Young.[2] The paper grew along with San Francisco to become the largest circulation newspaper on the West Coast of the  while he was visiting the Los Angeles Zoo The Los Angeles Zoo founded in 1966, is a large zoo located in Los Angeles, California, USA.

with his wife, actress Sharon Stone, officials said Sunday.

Phil Bronstein and Stone were on a private tour of the zoo around noon Saturday when Bronstein entered the Indonesian lizard's cage. He was hospitalized in stable condition Sunday, said Joe Brown, a spokesman for the paper.

The tour was arranged as a Father's Day surprise for Bronstein, who had always wanted to see a Komodo dragon up close.

``Mr. Bronstein was part of a behind-the-scenes tour at our reptile house,'' said Susie Kasielke, a zoo administrator.

Bronstein ``entered the enclosure with one of our animal keepers and was subsequently bitten by the animal,'' Kasielke said.

had asked Bronstein to remove his white tennis shoes to keep the 5-foot-long reptile from mistaking them for the white rats it is fed, Bronstein told the Chronicle.

Stone, who witnessed the attack from outside the cage, said the reptile attacked Bronstein's shoeless foot, crushing his big toe while thrashing its body around.

Bronstein was able to pry open the reptile's mouth and escape through a small feeding door in the cage while the zookeeper distracted it, Stone said.

``We're very grateful for the professional care of the people at the hospital,'' Stone said. ``And we certainly don't blame the people at the zoo.''
