Centered on the cities of Los Angeles and San Diego, Southern California is home to nearly 24 million people and is the nation's second most populated region, market last March with 28 stores. Analysts expect a more modest plan to fill in additional markets within the area. ``Both of these were great locations for us,'' said Tawn Earnest, a Kohl's spokeswoman. ``We're always looking for Looking for In the context of general equities, this describing a buy interest in which a dealer is asked to offer stock, often involving a capital commitment. The new jobs will be in sales, checkout, price management, receiving, housekeeping and loss prevention. Company benefits include a medical plan, a 401(k) plan, stock options and merchandise discounts. Kohl's announcement of its arrival last year in Southern California sent shock waves through the retail world. Competitor chains like Macy's and Sears scrambled to update their stores to match Kohl's convenient shopping layout and amenities like shopping carts and centralized checkout, thinking it would steal much of their business. Kohl's presence did not bring the anticipated change to the local retail landscape, though. `'There was some overconfidence o·ver·con·fi·dent adj. Similar areas have proved to be some of the department store's best locations, according to analyst Gary Holdsworth of Wedbush Morgan Securities. With significant expansion plans still in the works, including San Diego, Bakersfield, Fresno and Sacramento, he doubted that Kohl's would let a rocky start get in its way. ``Where they've had success is in the more established, higher-density areas,'' Holdsworth said. ``However, it's very difficult to get real estate there. They've gone in the inland areas, which both of these qualify as, where they expect population to build around them so they can have future growth.''
