KODAK COLOR MANAGEMENT CHOSEN FOR WINDOWS 95; NEW KODAK AD CAMPAIGN DEBUTS AT WINDOWS LAUNCH.


ROCHESTER, NY--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 24, 1995--As the excitement heats up for the launch of WINDOWS 95, Kodak will take near center stage as the company chosen to supply the color management system Software that translates the colors of an original image into the truest representation obtainable on the output device. Color management works from a profile of the output device, typically a digital printer or offset press, and works backward to the source of the material such as a  for the new operating system operating system (OS)

Software that controls the operation of a computer, directs the input and output of data, keeps track of files, and controls the processing of computer programs.
. In addition, Kodak has been chosen as one of only two high technology companies to be a Gold-level sponsor of the event.

Kodak will debut its first-ever commercials promoting Kodak Digital Science technology as part of a 30-minute Microsoft television special, entitled "Windows of the Future." On launch day, scheduled for August 24 in Redmond, Washington Redmond is a city in King County, Washington, USA. It is situated on the eastern edge of the Seattle urban area, in what is known as the Eastside. In 2003 the Census Bureau estimated the city population was 46,391. , Kodak Digital Science products will be used to demonstrate how easy it is to put pictures to work on desktop systems.

"WINDOWS 95 is a natural choice for users of images," explains Carl Gustin, Chief Marketing Officer at Eastman Kodak Company. "And the Kodak color management system is a natural choice for WINDOWS 95. Working together, we expect to stimulate lots of interest in digital imaging and help smooth the transition to WINDOWS 95 for current users of Kodak Precision Color Management System products."

 earlier this year when Kodak unveiled a number of key alliance partners that would work together with a single objective in mind: to let everyone work with digital pictures easily and inexpensively.

On August 24, the launch of WINDOWS 95 will be in a carnival- type setting with vendor tents and product demonstrations which will be broadcast via satellite around the world.

At the event, Kodak Digital Science products will be demonstrated at several vendor tents:

o Adobe will use Kodak DCS (1) See also DSC.

(2) Digital Cross-connect System) A network switching and grooming device used by telecom carriers. See digital cross-connect.
 420 cameras and Kodak XLS (filename extension) xls - Excel spreadsheet.  8600 PS thermal dye printers to help demonstrate the power of PAGEMAKER 6.0 software.

o MICROGRAFX will use the Kodak XLS 8600 Thermal Dye printers in a demonstration of its PICTURE PUBLISHER software.

o Visitors to the Corel booth will receive souvenir prints and T-shirts displaying images printed with a Kodak XLS 8600 PS thermal printer See direct thermal printer and thermal wax transfer printer.  and the company's new Kodak Photo T Thermal Dye Transfer See dye sublimation printer.  material.

o Microsoft will also use Kodak Thermal Dye printers to generate presentation materials from its WINDOWS 95- compatible POWERPOINT software.

As a program sponsor, Kodak and its new Digital Science trademark will be featured in a special 4-page insert in USA Today USA Today

National U.S. daily general-interest newspaper, the first of its kind. Launched in 1982 by Allen Neuharth, head of the Gannett newspaper chain, it reached a circulation of one million within a year and surpassed two million in the 1990s.
. The company also will appear in a series of 15- second television spots and in national newspaper ads designed as teasers for the 30-minute TV broadcast. The Microsoft television special will begin airing in selected cities on Sunday, August 27.

During the TV broadcast, Kodak will debut three new television commercials, aimed at introducing and reinforcing Kodak's commitment to digital imaging and the Kodak Digital Science brand. One commercial, entitled "The Picture is Changing," conveys the message that Kodak, a company long known for its film and photographic products, is now a strong player in the digital arena. A second set of product- specific commercials will reinforce how Kodak Digital Science solutions help people put pictures to work.

Microsoft also will produce an opening message that will remind television viewers that Kodak's color management system was chosen for WINDOWS 95. A closing message invites viewers to visit Kodak's home page on the World Wide Web.
