KNOWLEDGEWARE BEGINS SHIPMENTS OF OBJECTVIEW 2.0

ATLANTA, April 21 /PRNewswire/ -- KnowledgeWare, Inc. (NASDAQ-NMS: KNOW) today announced that it has begun shipments of ObjectView 2.0
KnowledgeWare acquired ObjectView in its acquisition of Matesys Mathematic Systems S.A. and its subsidiary, Matesys Corp., on Feb. 22.
Based on Windows, ObjectView was designed to develop applications that can simultaneously access multiple, industry-leading databases for sophisticated transaction processing.
"We are pleased to begin shipments of ObjectView 2.0," said Donald P. Addington, KnowledgeWare president and chief operating officer. "The new functionality of ObjectView 2.0, combined with the comprehensive support and consulting services of the KnowledgeWare organization, will be welcomed by developers as they launch into client/server application technologies."
ObjectView 2.0 supports an extensive list of databases, including Microsoft, SYBASE, Oracle, Informix, Ingres and Teradata; database interfaces such as ODBC, Q+E and EDA/SQL; and leading gateways such as Micro Decisionware, Oracle, and SYBASE Open Gateway for DB2, SYBASE Net- Gateway for OS/2, and SYBASE Open Server for OS/2.
ObjectView 2.0 provides a new "panel object" to give developers precise control over database transactions and events while maintaining application independence from the underlying databases. The new release also provides developers facilities for viewing, tracing and modifying SQL communications between the client and the server during both development and debugging. ObjectView 2.0 also includes a new and robust interactive code debugger that performs (1) trace level debugging; (2) step through procedures; (3) sets breakpoints; (4) defines watch variables; and (5) allows code viewing and modification during execution.
Data returned by a database query from multiple tables and diverse databases can be analyzed with ObjectView's new spreadsheet object. Support for DDE (Dynamic Data Exchange) and OLE (Object Linking and Embedding) enables communications with other Windows applications.
The company is currently developing an interface between ObjectView and its Application Development Workbench, which customers use for application analysis, design and database creation.
The ObjectView 2.0 developer kit is promotionally priced through June 30, at $999 each for up to five units, with a 30-day unconditional money-back guarantee. ObjectView 2.0 is regularly priced at $2,799 per developer kit. ObjectView 2.0 deployment kits are priced per database server.
KnowledgeWare is the market leader in providing application development solutions for client/server environments. On Dec. 31, 1992, KnowledgeWare had shipped more than 104,000 units to 35 countries, and had revenue in excess of $115 million for the fiscal year ended June 30, 1992.
