KNOWLEDGEWARE ANNOUNCES ADW AND OBJECTVIEW INTEGRATION AT ITS ANNUAL USER CONFERENCE

ATLANTA, April 26 /PRNewswire/ -- At its annual user conference, KnowledgeWare (NASDAQ-NMS: KNOW) today announced integration plans for the Application Development Workbench (ADW) and ObjectView.
The Application Development Workbench is a comprehensive, integrated application development solution for client/server, mid-range and mainframe environments. ObjectView is KnowledgeWare's visual development tool for rapidly creating client/server applications that access multiple databases.
"Combining the robust modeling capabilities of the Application Development Workbench with rapid, visual development of ObjectView will give organizations tremendous flexibility in modeling and reusing design components," said Donald P. Addington, KnowledgeWare president and chief operating officer. "Our goal is to provide a range of client/server development tools that work together to meet the specific needs of individuals, departments and entire organizations."
Integration between ObjectView and ADW will be delivered in two phases. Phase one, scheduled for mid-1993 availability, will allow developers to import Data Definition Language (DDL) and Data Manipulation Language (DML) from the ADW/Design Workstation into ObjectView.
Phase two, scheduled for early fall 1993, will integrate ObjectView with both the ADW/Analysis and Design Workstations. The link to ADW/Analysis Workstation will help ensure that ObjectView client/server development projects support the business requirements and priorities identified with the Application Development Workbench.
Other ADW enhancements were also announced, including ADW/Tool Set Utilities and ADW/Encyclopedia Expert. New ADW/Tool Set Utilities is an "API-like" set of template programs that provide developers open and direct access to information stored in the ADW encyclopedia. ADW/Tool Set Utilities, priced at $250, is currently available.
The new ADW/Encyclopedia Expert will help facilitate and simplify the consolidation process of individual, workstation-based ADW encyclopedias into a combined project encyclopedia. The tool identifies the differences between two individual encyclopedias to assess the impact of changes before executing the consolidation process. ADW/Encyclopedia Expert was developed by Model Software and is being distributed exclusively by KnowledgeWare worldwide. ADW/Encyclopedia Expert is priced at $3,500 and is currently available.
KnowledgeWare is the market leader in providing application development solutions for client/server, mid-range and mainframe environments. As of March 31, KnowledgeWare had shipped more than 108,000 products to 35 countries, and had revenue in excess of $115 million for the fiscal year ended June 30, 1992. Revenues for the six months ending Dec. 31, 1992, were more than $61 million.
