Guests are literally doing flips over the new attraction at Knott's Berry Farm Knott's Berry Farm is a brand name of two separate entities: a theme park in Buena Park, California, and a manufacturer of food specialty products (primarily jams and preserves) based in Placentia, California. .

The $16 million, Western-themed Silver Bullet silver bullet - magic bullet  also has them doing spirals, corkscrews and rolls - all at speeds up to 55 mph.

``It's given us a fabulous addition to our critical mass,'' says Knott's spokeswoman Susan Tierney-Dust of the park's seventh roller coaster. ``It boosts us up into a thrill-ride park as well as a family and kids park. It just brings us more into the realm of having an overall experience for any member of the family.''

The ride's unusual design has thrill-seekers sitting under the track with their feet dangling beneath them. Well, make that under the track for much of the 2.5-minute ride. On six different occasions, riders will be upside down over the track - including when they're speeding around a 105-foot vertical loop.

The only rides comparable along the West Coast are Batman the Ride at Six Flags Magic Mountain Six Flags Magic Mountain is an amusement park located just west of the Valencia neighborhood of Santa Clarita, north of Los Angeles. It opened on Memorial Day weekend on May 29, 1971 as Magic Mountain, by the Newhall Land and Farming Company,[1]  in Valencia and Top Gun at Great America Great America is a name shared by two American amusement parks opened by the Marriott Corporation in 1976.

Both parks are now under different ownership and are known as:
  • Great America (California) - Santa Clara, California, now owned by Cedar Fair.
in Santa Clara. But Silver Bullet beats each of them when it comes to height, track length and top speed.

The new attraction tops a long list of roller coasters in another department.

``You can actually stand under portions of the track and not hear the train coming,'' Tierney-Dust says. ``It's extremely quiet, especially when you're talking about a steel roller coaster A steel roller coaster is a roller coaster that is defined by having a track made of steel. The vast majority of steel coasters have a steel support structure, but several have a wooden support structure: Cedar Creek Mine Ride and Gemini at Cedar Point and Excalibur at Valleyfair!. .''

Silver Bullet runs parallel to the popular Log Ride attraction and stretches over Reflection Lake. To make room for the new coaster, the little Church of Reflections - a historic sanctuary rescued from demolition four decades ago by Walter Knott - was moved across Beach Boulevard to an area north of Independence Hall. The new location offers worshippers easier access for their Sunday morning services because there's an adjacent parking lot and they no longer need to hike through the theme park.

The coaster is the fourth attraction to open at Knott's Berry Farm this year. The others are Lucy's Tugboat tugboat, small, strongly built vessel, used to guide large oceangoing ships into and out of port and to tow barges, dredging and salvage equipment, and disabled vessels.  in Camp Snoopy Snoopy

Since its 1997 acquisition by Cedar Fair L.P., Knott's Berry Farm has placed an emphasis on big thrill attractions, including Silver Bullet.

But Tierney-Dust says the park is still catering to family members who find excitement in other ways. The park, for example, is decked out with holiday decorations and there's a nightly tree-lighting ceremony. On Dec. 31, the annual Christian-themed New Year's Eve celebration, Praise 2005, returns with a lineup of contemporary Christian acts that includes Dove Award winners This is a list of people who have won a GMA Dove Award (Gospel Music Association Dove Award for Contemporary Christian or gospel music. ``Silver Bullet has added to the experience where any person can find whatever theme park experience they want - whether it be Camp Snoopy for the kids, something mellow like Log Ride, the train, stagecoach stagecoach, heavy, closed vehicle on wheels, usually drawn by horses, formerly used to transport passengers and goods overland. Throughout the Middle Ages and until about the end of the 18th cent.  or all-out thrills,'' Tierney-Dust says. ``There's something for just about everybody.''
