KNIGHT-RIDDER/TRIBUNE BUSINESS NEWS, AMERICA ONLINE SIGN PACT

 WASHINGTON, Feb. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Knight-Ridder/Tribune Business News selected America Online as the first electronic information service to offer its news to the consumer marketplace, Robert L. Harris, director, announced.
 America Online offers subscribers a wide variety of services, including news, sports, weather, stock quotes, electronic mail, conferencing, software, computing support and online classes. These services can be accessed from a broad range of personal computers using America Online's proprietary software.
 America Online, based in Vienna, Va., has more than 200,000 households subscribing to its consumer online services.
 Knight-Ridder/Tribune Business News is a unit of Knight- Ridder/Tribune Information Services, a joint venture of Miami-based Knight-Ridder Inc. (NYSE: KRI) and Chicago-based Tribune Co. (NYSE: TRB). Knight-Ridder/Tribune has headquarters in Washington.
 The service offers business and related news from all 31 Knight- Ridder newspapers and magazines, all six Tribune newspapers and 22 affiliated papers.
 The 59 contributing publications include The Miami Herald, The Philadelphia Inquirer, the Detroit Free Press, the San Jose Mercury News, the Chicago Tribune, the Atlanta Journal and Constitution, The Boston Globe, The Dallas Morning News, the Houston Chronicle, The Denver Post, The Orange County Register and The Journal of Commerce.
 The articles from the newspapers and magazines are full-text and are available electronically the day of publication. Also, the service includes news from the Knight-Ridder Financial News service.
 Knight-Ridder/Tribune Business News serves the business community through agreements with 17 distributors, offering various types of electronic information products.
 Those distributors are: Dialog Information Services Inc., NewsNet Inc., Desktop Data Inc., Mainstream Data Inc., Comtex Scientific Corp., Individual Inc., SandPoint Corp., NewsBank Inc., Buckmaster Publishing, Information Access Group, Knowledge Systems Inc., Indepth Data Inc., On- Site Information Systems Inc., Track Data Corp., Fax Focus Inc., Infomart Online and Business Wire, for its IndustryTrak and CompetitorTrak services.
