KMEX-TV AND NABET ANNOUNCE HISTORIC AGREEMENT

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Los Angeles television station KMEX-TV, Channel 34, announced today the signing of a historic agreement with its union technical and production staff that will allow the station to provide continuous quality programming to its Spanish-speaking audience.
KMEX General Manager Michael G. Martinez welcomed the agreement with NABET (local 53) as being "beneficial to our employees and the station and therefore beneficial to the community which we serve."
The key component of the agreement is a flexibility plan that permits NABET union employees to be scheduled more efficiently. "This flexibility agreement is the first of its kind in the Los Angeles market," Martinez said, "It enables us to enhance our level of local programming by allowing a more productive use of personnel resources."
Approximately 84 station employees at KMEX are covered by the NABET contract. The agreement also includes a four-year salary increase program with additional increases for those employees who agree to work within the flexibility program.
KMEX-TV, Channel 34, is the leading Spanish-language station in Southern California.
