KMC Telecom Promotes Regan Scruggs to Regional Vice President, Ohio Valley Region.

FORT WAYNE, Ind.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 1, 2000

KMC Telecom, a fiber-based integrated communications provider, today announced the promotion of Regan Scruggs to Regional Vice President of the Ohio Valley Region.

Prior to his promotion, Scruggs served as City Director for KMC Telecom in Fort Wayne, a position he has held since starting with the company in May 1998.

Scruggs, a native of Evansville, Indiana, will remain in Fort Wayne to direct the sales, business development and customer service efforts of KMC Telecom cities in the three states that make up the Ohio Valley region: Indiana, Ohio and Maryland. Cities in this region currently served by KMC Telecom include: Fort Wayne, Toledo, Akron, Dayton, and Bethesda/Frederick.

Scruggs will report to Kim Stanley, Senior Vice President, Northern Division.

In addition to executing his new responsibilities, Scruggs will continue his commitment to the Fort Wayne community, remaining active on Boards of Directors for the Northeast Indiana Innovation Center, Junior Achievement of Northern Indiana, the American Red Cross of Northeast Indiana and the Greater Fort Wayne Chamber of Commerce.

Scruggs is also an advisor to Right Relations Inc., a Fort Wayne organization dedicated to fostering better family, business and community relationships, and a board member for The Network, a local business networking organization.

Scruggs has more than sixteen years' experience in telecommunications sales and service, project management, vendor negotiation and engineering design. Prior to KMC Telecom, Scruggs worked as an account manager with Ameritech Enhanced Business Services, and in various account and project management positions with Indiana Bell Communications.

He earned a B.S. degree in Industrial Management at Purdue University.
