 KMART INTRODUCES NEW LICENSED CHARACTER;
 PICASSO 'SPEEDY' COTTONTAIL HOPS TO DEBUT
 TROY, Mich., March 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Picasso "Speedy" Cottontail will hop off your television screen and into your Easter basket this year. Kmart Corporation (NYSE: KM) today announced it will introduce its first licensed product developed from an animated character on April 1 in its 2,300 Kmart stores across the country.
 "Speedy" merchandise has been developed in the areas of plush, candy and baskets, party goods, wrapping paper and related Easter accessories. The merchandise will be exclusive to Kmart stores and provide the 1992 Easter promotion theme for the stores.
 "This is the first time Kmart has taken a licensed character and developed special merchandise for its stores," said Bill Underwood, Kmart senior vice president, merchandise. "We think 'Speedy' will be a hit with the kids this Easter."
 Picasso "Speedy" Cottontail is a lovable bunny who stars in the animated video "Easter Egg Mornin'" produced and narrated by Bobby Goldsboro. The animated feature debuted in 1991 on the Disney Channel.
 "I'm very excited that Kmart decided to create merchandise around 'Speedy' and the other characters in my video," said Goldsboro, recording artist. "I think kids will enjoy 'Speedy' year round."
 "Speedy" will also be featured in an Official Coloring Sweepstakes in all Kmart stores from March 29 through April 12. Entry forms will be available at the Service Desk and at the "Speedy" merchandise display. Each store will give away four prizes: Grand Prize -- Large "Speedy" Plush; First Prize -- Crayola 7740 Crayon Case; Second Prize -- 65 Count Crayola Crayons; and Third Prize -- Egg of Silly Putty.
