PADS coordinator Max Holdcraft said that without the volunteers, homeless people would be suffering even more in Simi Valley.

``The volunteers are very giving and caring,'' he said. ``The way they offer themselves freely, they're not expecting anything in return. They definitely make a difference, and it's nice to see people recognizing their deeds. They are the unsung heroes.''

Event organizer Jacquie Richardson said the volunteers deserve the honor.

``They provide a valuable service with a great deal of compassion, and they really provide an incredible contribution to the community,'' she said.

Tickets for the event cost $2.50 each if bought before Saturday, and $3 at the door. All proceeds will go to the Samaritan Center and PADS program. For more information or tickets, call 579-9166 or 583-5890.
