Next weekend there will be strange happenings right in the middle of Pasadena.

Not unusual, you say. But in this case we're talking about the Trekkies and out-of-this-world devotees who will be converging on Creation Entertainment's 13th annual Grand Slam grand slam

1. The winning of all the tricks during the play of one hand in bridge and other whist-derived card games.

2. Sports The winning of all the major or specified events, especially on a professional circuit.
: The Sci-Fi Summit. They will be drawn, undoubtedly, by the man himself: Capt. James T. Kirk (sometimes known as William Shatner <noinclude></noinclude>

 from ``Star Trek''), who will be attending along with more than 50 other sci-fi celebs.

John de Lancie (born March 20, 1948) is an American character actor. He is known for his recurring role as "Q" on the various Star Trek series, and as Frank Simmons in Stargate SG-1.

And just to throw in a little weirdness, Nick Stahl, the star of the HBO Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBO)

In addition to the celebs (some of whom you can get autographs from or have pictures taken with), there are costume and trivia contests, displays of collectibles (some of which will be auctioned) and previews of upcoming sci-fi shows and films.

The event takes place at the Pasadena Center, 300 E. Green Street. Show hours are noon to 6 p.m. on Friday, and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
