KINGSTON DEBUTS 10/100 FAST ETHERNET ADAPTER.

Kingston Technology, a manufacturer of networking hardware, has debuted a new 10/100 Fast Ethernet adapter with Wake on LAN and ACPI support. When initiated, both Wake on LAN and ACPI can reduce system management workload and provide greater flexibility to system administrators.

Wake on LAN allows systems to be powered on remotely via a wake-up frame. By utilizing Wake on LAN, IT organizations can install software, run virus scans and run back-up disks without having to interrupt users during peak business hours. The combination of remote wake-up and remote access results in system administrators saving time on software installation and upgrades, which gives end users increased productivity by avoiding unnecessary down-time. ACPI enables the operating system to intelligently monitor and shut down individual components to minimize power consumption. Therefore, a system utilizing ACPI offers system administrators a great energy conservation option.

"Wake on LAN is in high demand by system administrators who want the option of remote management," said Chris Wong, product manager, Peripheral Products Division, Kingston. "We are also preparing for the release of Microsoft Windows 2000 by providing ACPI support, a feature promised in the Windows 2000 platform," added Wong.

The KNE120TX has a Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price of $34.00. Kingston's new Fast EtheRx adapters are certified by most major network operating systems, undergo extensive 100% testing and are backed by a lifetime warranty. All adapters are shipped with a wide range of drivers including support for MAC and Linux for easy installation. Additionally, technical support is available free of charge from Kingston's staff of Certified Engineers in both the US and Canada.
