``When you get away from home you leave a lot of distractions behind,'' Kuntz said. ``On the road, players come together a little more and get to know one another. That's a big reason we make a trip like this each year.''

Kuntz was eager to see how the Kingsmen responded in a competitive setting against quality opponents.

``That will be interesting,'' he said Wednesday. ``Plus, (the two opponents) play against schools we will play during the season. This will be a measuring stick for us.''

Cal Lutheran lost two of its first three games this year, although that record was a bit deceiving considering the Kingsmen were without high-scoring forward Brian Collins This article or section is written like an .

Despite the loss to Grand Canyon, Kuntz was pleased with the effort. The Antelopes are the defending Division II champions. Cal Lutheran is a Division III team.

Kuntz, however, was discouraged with the loss against Dominguez Hills on Tuesday.

``We lost our composure a bit toward the end of the game and it cost us,'' Kuntz said.

Although the record isn't quite where he had hoped it would be, Kuntz said there is ample time for the Kingsmen to improve.

He is impressed thus far with the play of midfielders Edwin Astudillo and Jeff Smilen and forward Jose Melgoza.
