Kings (9-8-4) update: The Kings are 3-2 on their six-game homestand, which ends tonight. They begin a three-game trip against Colorado on Sunday. L.A. is coming off one of its worst performances, a 5-1 loss to Dallas in which the Stars scored four power-play goals and one shorthanded. This came after back-to-back victories in which the Kings totaled 14 goals. Going into Wednesday's games, L.A. was tied with St. Louis for the second-most goals in the league (72). Detroit had 73.

Blackhawks (7-12-2) update: The Kings were 0-2 at home against Chicago last season, 1-3 overall.
