Michael has been impersonating Elvis since 1972 when he was a vocal major at California Lutheran College. He was discovered when a hypnotist put him in a trance trance (trans) a sleeplike state of altered consciousness marked by heightened focal awareness and reduced peripheral awareness.

 still crooning the King's classics.

The popularity of Elvis' songs so many years after his death is why the alliance's executive director, Ann Kerman, chose Michael for its benefit concert.

``This is a great opportunity for the community to come together and have fun, and at the same time support a worthy program,'' Kerman said. ``We are really fortunate and excited to be able to bring this event to Santa Clarita. Raymond Michael has been performing to sold-out crowds across California and the U.S.''

The School-to-Career program promotes rigorous and relevant instruction and connects students and schools with the local business community. As a new nonprofit, this is one of many fund-raising efforts under way by the alliance.

``We are often asked to give monetarily without getting something in return,'' Kerman said. ``A community concert not only raises much-needed funds for a good cause, it allows the community to come together socially to enjoy an evening of first class entertainment without traveling to Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  and paying Los Angeles concert prices.''

The ``Tribute to the King of Rock 'n' Roll'' will be presented at 8:00 p.m. Saturday at the Hart High School Auditorium, 24825 Newhall Ave., Newhall. VIP tickets are available in the first 10 rows for $50, and general seating is available for $30.

For information or tickets call the alliance office at (661) 259-0033, Ext. 776.
