KING OF POP, MICHAEL JACKSON, EXTENDS 'DANGEROUS TOUR'
TO JAPAN TO PERFORM FOR 500,000 EAGER FANS
Jackson Is Only Artist to Draw Such Large Numbers
and Sell Out So Quickly in Japan
BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., Oct. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Mega-star Michael Jackson, after just completing the immensely successful 32-city European leg of his triumphant "Dangerous Tour," continues by taking the spectacular state-of-the-art show to the Orient. Jackson will play eight nights at the giant Tokyo Dome, Dec. 12, 14, 17, 19, 22, 24, 30 and 31, with additional dates in the Orient to be announced.
The King of Pop returns to Japan, where the long-standing support of the Japanese people continues to mushroom with excited anticipation. With the dome's seating capacity of 45,000, many of the fans who couldn't be accommodated during his last tour will now be able to see the "ultimate presentation" of the mega-star.
Jackson's previous record-breaking tour of Japan, the "Bad Tour" in 1988, consisted of 14 SRO stadium dates, with Jackson performing for a capacity total crowd of 450,000 in Tokyo, Osaka and Yokohama. No other artist has performed as many stadium dates, and the numbers far surpass any previous Japanese attendance records.
Spurred by Jackson's four-month European tour, the "Dangerous" album has sold 15 million copies worldwide, as compared with 13 million copies of "Thriller" within the same period. The album is already five times platinum in Spain, quadruple platinum in the United Kingdom and Norway, triple platinum in France, Sweden and Switzerland, double platinum in Belgium and Italy and platinum in Germany, Denmark, Finland, Portugal and Holland.
