KING DAUGHTER REVISITING HISTORY VIA `SELMA' TV MOVIE.

Byline: Marilyn Beck & Stacy Jenel Smith

Yolanda King Yolanda Denise King (November 17, 1955 – May 15, 2007) was the first-born child of Coretta Scott King and civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Her younger siblings are Martin Luther King, III, Dexter Scott King, and Rev. Bernice Albertine King. , the daughter of the late Martin Luther King Jr., is about to revisit history.

King is set to join the cast of ABC's ``Selma, Lord Selma'' telepic about the Selma campaign during the civil-rights movement.

``It's going to be sort of surreal,'' she says, then recalls, ``It was 1965. I was probably 9. The only march we (her siblings and she) participated in was the Selma-to-Montgomery march. My parents kept us away from most of the major campaigns and demonstrations because, needless to say, there was a lot of danger, and there was concern people might try to get to our parents through us. The marches on Washington and in Birmingham I watched on TV, just like the rest of the country. We grew up kind of normally in a lot of respects, certainly removed from the danger and day-to-day tension and conflict.''

King plans to segue immediately into ``Selma, Lord Selma'' after she wraps shooting the BET Movies/Starz! film ``Funny Valentines,'' with Alfre Woodard Alfre Ette Woodard (born November 8, 1952) is an American actress. She has been nominated for an Academy Award and has won four Emmy Awards, three SAG Awards and one Golden Globe Award. , Loretta Devine Loretta Devine (born August 21, 1949 in Houston, Texas) is an 5-time NAACP Image Awards winning African American actress. In the latter film, she plays a church usher who's trying to keep a lid on a scandal involving the rape of a member of the congregation by the minister's son. ``It's set in the mid-'60s, and we get to age 20 years, which is fun,'' says King.'' Today, we all look like the Supremes, so we've been singing and practicing their steps.''

Heard but not seen

It's nothing new for top stars to lend their voices to animated movies - but never so many as now; such projects proliferate far beyond the Disney studio. Michael J. Fox has just signed on as the title mouse's voice for Columbia Pictures' ``Stuart Little'' adaptation, joining a cast that already includes Geena Davis Virginia Elizabeth "Geena" Davis (born January 21 1956) is an Academy Award and Golden Globe-winning and Emmy-nominated American actress and former fashion model. The big-screen scene

Antonio Banderas' recently wrapped ``Crazy in Alabama'' is really ``two films in one,'' according to Meat Loaf, who co-stars with Melanie Griffith in the movie that marks Banderas' feature directing debut. ``One side - Melanie's side - is this crazy, black comedy. The other is a very political story about what goes on in a small town in Alabama in 1965.'' The latter has Meat Loaf playing a racist sheriff, but the singer-actor points out, ``I don't really play him as a bad news racist, because if I did, it would be very stereotypical. I was trying to play a guy who, well, he's just the way he was brought up.''

License to thrill

British author Donald Zec hasn't even completed his biography of late 007 movie producer Cubby Broccoli, but already buzz is circulating around the publishing world that Zec has some hot stuff in it. That's not a surprise, considering Broccoli's career not only included the swingin' glamour of the '60s, '70s and '80s James Bond movies, but also reached back to filmland's golden era, when he worked for the likes of Howard Hughes. Zec was reportedly close to Cubby, who, incidentally, did not want his biography written while he was alive.

A good bandwagon

According to a Seventeen magazine poll, celebrities don't just influence the hair and clothing habits - or worse, drug and smoking habits - of teens. In the online poll, some 1,300 teen respondents say they've embraced volunteerism, thanks to such celebs as Alicia Silverstone, Drew Barrymore, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Oprah Winfrey, Rosie O'Donnell and Tyra Banks.
